MJBizCon Spring Conference Preview – Washington D.C. – May 17-19. 2017
May 2, 2017
In a few short weeks, nearly 5,000 cannabis professionals will gather at the Spring 2017 Marijuana Business Conference and Expo outside of Washington DC. Located at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, this year’s MJBizCon will be just 10 miles from our nation’s capital, a sign of confidence from the industry and growing acceptance from the population.
After an election full of cannabis legislative victories, this year’s spring conference will be focused on 3 hot button issues:
- Business and Investment Opportunities in New States – How does the recent legalization of Maine and Massachusetts impact established markets? What opportunities exist in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida? What can the east coast learn from California?
- Large-Scale Cannabis Cultivation Advancements – As the industry advances, what technologies and efficiencies are available to reduce operating costs and improve margins? How can we operate large-scale cultivation facilities while minimizing our environmental impact for sustainable, long-term growth and operations?
- How President Donald J Trump’s first 100 days have affected the cannabis industry – How has access to capital changed since the election? Has your business experienced a business slowdown due to federal uncertainty? How are states preparing for a potential federal crackdown?
The conference will provide the northeast with the largest concentration of established cannabis businesses from across the country. Unlike the New England Cannabis Convention, which tends to be very localized and homegrown, MJBizCon is where all the largest and national cannabis companies go to present their offerings and show off the latest advancements in cannabis technology. It’s not uncommon to see extraction systems 30 ft long and mock cultivation centers set up in shipping containers.
Though not expected to be as busy as last fall’s sold-out event in Las Vegas, the Spring Conference promises to educate attendees on the multitude of opportunities the cannabis industry has available, and in a blossoming east coast market, no less.
The conference boasts 60 industry experts speaking on topics ranging from Start-ups to Investment, to Advanced Cultivation Techniques. With up to 6 available daily sessions, MJBizCon’s programming has something for everyone, whether you are just exploring the cannabis space or have years of experience.
Speaking of speakers, BioTrackTHC’s VP of Sales, Steve Flaks, will be presenting on B2B Sales Strategies in the MJ Industry Friday, at 9:30am. BioTrackTHC will be at booth #229 to answer questions about our industry leading commercial tracking software and government traceability solutions as well as showing off the new BT Command Center.
